Is there a way keeping thumbnail view WITHOUT caching them on XP? Turning off such setting from Group Policy might be a choice but I just want to have my images to be shown in Thumbnail view but disabling and getting rid of “thumbs.db” at the same time. Just a quick tip here,
After using the Windows Disk Cleanup feature to delete Thumbs, the deleted thumbs are stored in a folder in C:Users%username%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsExplorer
If you don’t want to or cannot reboot at the moment, you can open ctrl+alt+del and end the explorer.exe process. This will unlock and free the file and contents to be deleted manually.
Next, in taskmanager, click new task and type explorer.exe to restart explorer.
Now you can go back to C:Users%username%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsBurn and delete the Temporary Burn Forlder completely. When you back out and look in the Explorer folder you will find the deleted files have been unlocked and deleted.ReplyThumbs.db MacbookErnesto6 years ago
